Desmopressin Tablets

Desmopressin Tablets BP 0.1 & 0.2 mg

Desmopressin Tablets also known as hormone analogues refer to the combination of “antihemophilic agents” primarily used to treat diabetes insipidus, bedwetting, and post-hypophysectomy polyuria polydipsia. It is a health condition in which the human body can not handle water balance, as a result, excessive urination. Hypophysectomy is the surgical removal of the hypophysis. Desmopressin Tablets contain Desmopressin, a human-made form of Vasopressin.

It is an antidiuretic hormone, synthesized in the pituitary gland's hypothalamus. When the human body cannot produce enough vasopressin, Desmopressin Tablets are given to replace a less vasopressin level. It mimics the natural hormone, vasopressin and works by reabsorbing water from the kidneys, which controls over thirst and urination in diabetes insipidus. It also reduces the amount of urine produced and controls bedwetting in children. Being an anti-hemophilic agent, the composition also reduces the bleeding tendency in hemophilia by promoting the release of blood clotting factors.
